17+ PRE-UNIVERSITY SPECIFIC LEARNING DIFFICULTIES ASSESSMENT

Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) is a UK Government grant which provides personalised support to disabled students in Higher Education, in order to ensure a level playing field. Students with specific learning disabilities (SpLDs) can apply for this when attending university. These include dyslexia, dyspraxia (Developmental Co-Ordination Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). A full diagnostic report needs to be gained in order to ‘prove’ the SpLDs.

Our services include assessing young people 17+years prior to attending university, meaning they will have the evidence needed to both apply for DSA and to  be able to discuss the support they may need at university without delay.

We assess for dyslexia and dyscalculia, see below for more information.

In addition we can undertake screening for indicators of dyspraxia and ADHD, which leads to a non-medical diagnosis. Recommendations for both 6th form and university, including personalised approaches to study skills are given.
